"FORGET ME NOT BUTTERFLY in BLUE"
Using an old butterfly pin cushion as my inspiration, I hand stitched MY impression in early walnut dyed muslin with a faded blue plaid homespun back. 4 different early blue calicoes are stitched to the tucked quadrants of the butterfly. A homespun scrap is the butterfly's antennae and early black glass beads are the eyes. A small array of early blue fabrics are pinned to the butterfly with an 1800's cobalt blue glass berry pin. "FORGET ME NOT" is cross stitched in blue. "X" stitches are done on the outside of the butterfly pin cushion. Old pins, early glass berry pins and sewing needles are added. Butterfly measures 7" wide and is 6" tall.

Young Girl's Sewing Case - "MOTHER"
A square paper mache frame is used for the front of this sewing case. It is covered in early linen flax with an early tin type photo added. "MOTHER" is naively cross stitched at the top and a cross stitch pattern in gray & faded bittersweet thread at the side. The inside contains early faded bittersweet calicoes, a faded bittersweet homespun and early gray homespun. Old sewing needles, old steel pins & black glass berry pins are nestled in the fabric. It closes with a star pattern early calico which is folded & hand sewn. The sewing case measures 3-1/8" wide and is 3-1/8" tall.
