"Streamer Boy"
He is the Streamer Boy at the parade. He is entirely hand sewn & rag filled. Stitched from early black cotton. His face is stitched & needle sculpted with separately applied mouth and early black wool rolled ears. His hair is separately applied ringlets of raw wool. His cap is made from an old cotton baby mitten. This sweet boy wears a 19th. C. heavy blue plaid homespun coveralls. His shirt is a thread bare blue star calico with repairs and an early red homespun neckerchief. Tied around his waist is a hand made STREAMER. I used a rose hip branch and cut & stitched red, white & blue early cottons, this is wrapped with some early ticking and hanging rusty Liberty Bells. He stands 10 inches tall.

"Mouse Parade"
Mouse dresses up as Uncle Sam for the world famous Mouse Parade. Mouse is hand sewn from early original home dyed cotton & rag filled. He has separately applied ears, stitched eyes and an old child shoe button nose. He wears an early red, white & blue quilt piece jacket, double breasted with tiny rusty bell buttons. His pants are hand sewn from early blue star calico. His top hat is sewn from an early sack. Mouse's flag is hand sewn from early red, white & blue cottons. It is attached to rusty wire. Mouse also has an Uncle Sam hairpiece and tied on false beard. He measures 7-3/4 inches tall.

"Firecracker"
Firecracker is a very sweet rag doll, all worn & well loved, entirely hand sewn from old sack cloth. She has stitched eyes & lips and a tiny needle sculpted nose. I chose the last bit of this early worn & faded red calico because the design reminded me of Fireworks, this makes her lovely simple dress. A little pocket is sewn to the dress and it contains my tiny hand made "Firecrackers". She wears a bonnet sewn from an early quilt piece tied with a strip of early blue star calico. She has old sack cloth drawers with red & blue stripes and socks made to fit from early blue longjons. Firecracker stands 12-1/2 inches tall.

"Spool Bitties"

On 3 antique wooden spools, I have created 3 tiny dolls called, "Spool Bitties". They are hand sewn from early fabrics, blue & red calico homespuns. All 3 have pinned on aprons and bonnets. Each Spool Bittie has early fabric rolled & stitched around the spools under their little dresses. Their faces are lovingly pencil sketched and each measures 4 inches tall.

"True Blue"
True Blue is sewn from early cloth & rag filled. She is tall and thin and stands 17-1/4 inches tall. Her hand sewn low waisted dress with repairs is stitched from 2 different early blue calicoes with floral designs and trimming in another blue calico. She wears home dyed cotton drawers and old blue longjon socks. She carries 2 pieces of antique campaign bunting, 2 hand painted rusty stars and 2 rusty Liberty Bells tied to her wrist. Her beautiful face has stitched eyes, sweetheart lips and needle sculpted nose. Her hair is raw wool stitched on in sections culminating in a low braided bun. Tied around her head is a scarf fashioned from early blue star calico.

"Little Miss Liberty"
Little Miss Liberty is hand sewn from old cloth and filled with early quilt scraps & rags. Her eyes & mouth are stitched and her sweet button nose is separately applied. She is a stump doll with arms & fingers measuring 13 inches tall and quite wide and heavy. Her dress is antique faded red campaign bunting with white stars. Her apron is a quilt square with a hand painted red, white & blue star pinned to it. The bodice of her apron is a piece of early cloth with "LIBERTY" naively cross stitched to it. It ties around the neck and the waist with a faded early cadet blue star calico. She has a bit of raw wool with a braid for her hair. Her crown is rusty wire and her make do torch is an antique tin nozzle from a pastry set. The flames are little hand painted strips of early fabric. She also wears an early home dyed cotton under skirt with a sewn on red star.
